EMDR Therapy in Oakland County & Metro Detroit

Virtual Trauma Therapy for Adults Throughout Southeast Michigan

A person in a white shirt with two-tone hair, drawing a floor plan on paper at a white desk. On the desk, there's an open laptop, a mug with a dark beverage, and some brown papers.

You can be successful, capable, and holding everything together — and still know something isn't working the way you want it to.

When old patterns continue shaping your relationships, reactions, and sense of yourself, deeper work may be needed.

Life Looks Fine On The Outside

Many of the people I work with have built good lives. They are thoughtful, responsible, capable people who show up for their work, their families, and the people who depend on them. From the outside, life often looks stable.

But internally, it can feel very different.

You may spend a lot of time overthinking, second-guessing yourself, or carrying responsibilities that don't entirely belong to you. You may feel responsible for keeping things running, keeping people happy, or making sure everyone else is okay.

You may understand your patterns and still feel unable to change them.

You may know exactly why you react the way you do and still find yourself pulled back into the same responses.

At some point, many people begin to realize they are exhausted from carrying so much and frustrated that insight alone hasn't created the change they were hoping for.

They are not looking for quick fixes.

They are looking for something deeper.

This Work May Be A Good Fit If...

A woman with dark, curly hair is sitting on a brown couch, holding and reading a small children's book to a toddler, who is seated on her lap. The toddler is concentrating on the book, and there are additional books lying on the floor nearby.

You are tired of carrying everything on your own.

You’re ready to stop organizing your life around other people's expectations.

You want relationships where you don’t have to disappear to stay connected.

You’re ready to stop abandoning yourself to keep the peace.

You have spent years trying to understand yourself and are ready for more than understanding.

You want lasting change, not just better coping strategies.

Why These Patterns Can Be So Hard To Change

Many of the struggles people bring to therapy are not simply habits, personality traits, or ways of thinking.

They are emotional and relational responses that developed over years of lived experience.

Responses that once helped you stay connected.

Stay safe.

Avoid conflict.

Get through what you had to get through.

The problem is that they often continue long after they are needed.

Why EMDR Can Help When Insight Hasn't Been Enough

A person working on a laptop at a light wood desk, holding a mug of coffee or tea, with a potted plant and a tray of art supplies nearby.

Many of the people I work with are already highly self-aware.

They've spent years trying to understand themselves. They've reflected, read books, listened to podcasts, talked things through with trusted people, and often spent time in therapy. They can usually explain where their struggles came from and make sense of why they react the way they do.

The problem isn't a lack of insight.

They understand their story.

They understand their patterns.

They're just tired of living them.

At a certain point, many people realize that knowing why something happens and being able to change it are not always the same thing.

EMDR helps work with emotional and relational responses that continue to feel automatic even when you know where they came from. Rather than focusing only on understanding the problem, it helps your nervous system process experiences that may still be shaping how you relate, respond, and move through life today.

What Makes My Approach Different

A woman with blonde hair wearing a black blazer and white top, smiling, sitting with arms crossed and hands on lap, in front of a neutral background.

I work with adults who are often thoughtful, insightful, and highly responsible.

People who have spent years trying to manage, explain, or work around what they are feeling.

Rather than asking, "What's wrong with you?" we begin with a different question:

What happened, and how did your system learn to adapt to it?

That question often changes everything.

My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and grounded in helping you develop more self-trust, flexibility, and freedom in how you relate to yourself and others.

This work is not about becoming someone different.

It is about loosening the grip of responses that no longer fit who you are.

Why Virtual Therapy Works So Well

One advantage of virtual therapy is that you do not have to choose between the closest therapist and the right therapist.

You can work with someone who specializes in emotional neglect, relational trauma, and EMDR without adding another commute to an already full life.

Many clients find it easier to do deeper work from the comfort and privacy of their own space rather than rushing across Metro Detroit after a long workday.

I work with adults throughout Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Troy, Royal Oak, Novi, Northville, Clarkston, and communities across Oakland County and Southeast Michigan through secure telehealth.

You Don't Have To Keep Carrying This Alone

If you're recognizing yourself here, there is a reason.

You do not need to spend the rest of your life living by responses that were shaped before you had a choice.

A consultation is simply a place to begin.
