Virtual EMDR Therapy

The Same Depth of Work
Without Being in the Same Room

EMDR therapy does not have to happen in an office to be effective.

Many of the people I work with experience meaningful, lasting change through virtual sessions — often feeling more at ease working from the privacy of their own space.

If you have been considering therapy but feel unsure about doing it online, that hesitation makes sense.

And for many clients, virtual EMDR becomes not just a convenient option, but a deeply supportive one.

What Virtual EMDR Therapy Actually Involves

Virtual EMDR uses the same structured, evidence-based approach as in-person EMDR, adapted for a secure online setting.

We meet through a confidential video platform and use forms of bilateral stimulation, such as guided tapping, to support the process.

The focus of the work remains the same:

  • identifying experiences that still feel unresolved

  • understanding how those experiences are showing up in your current life

  • helping your system update those responses so they no longer feel as automatic or intense

You remain fully present and in control throughout the process.

We move at a pace that feels manageable and steady.

Does EMDR Work Virtually?

Yes.

Both research and clinical experience support the effectiveness of EMDR therapy delivered virtually.

For many people, being in their own environment actually makes the work feel more accessible.

You may notice:

  • less self-consciousness

  • more comfort in your surroundings

  • an easier time staying connected to your internal experience

When the process is structured and guided carefully, virtual EMDR can be just as effective as in-person work.

Why Virtual Therapy Can Feel Easier

For people who are used to holding a lot together, even the act of going into an office can feel like a barrier.

Virtual therapy removes that layer.

Clients often find that it allows for:

  • a smoother transition into sessions

  • more privacy and control over their environment

  • less disruption to their day

  • more space to stay connected to what they are feeling

Over time, this can make it easier to engage in deeper work.

Who Virtual EMDR Therapy is For

I work with adults who may look put together on the outside, but feel something different internally.

This often includes people who are navigating:

Many of my clients understand their patterns.

They can explain their history.

But their reactions still show up in ways that feel automatic or hard to change.

This work focuses on helping those conditioned nervous system responses actually shift.

What to Expect in a Virtual Session

Sessions are held through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform.

You will need:

  • a private, quiet space

  • a stable internet connection

  • a device with a camera

During sessions, I will guide you through the process in a structured and supportive way.

You do not need to prepare anything in advance or approach it in a certain way.

We move at a pace your system can integrate, without pushing or overwhelming.

Therapy That Meets You Where You Are

Not every client begins with EMDR, and not every session uses it.

My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and tailored to you.

We start by understanding your experience and building a sense of steadiness.

From there, we move into deeper work when it feels appropriate.

EMDR is one of the ways we support that process, but the focus is always on what will help your system shift in a lasting way.
