Who This is For

You may understand your trauma — where it came from, how it shaped you, why you react the way you do.

And yet, your body still responds as if the past is happening now.

If you live in Columbus — or anywhere else in Ohio — and feel anxious, stuck in your head, or emotionally exhausted despite years of insight or self-work, trauma-informed therapy with EMDR can help where talking alone hasn’t.

I offer trauma therapy and EMDR via secure telehealth for adults in Columbus, Ohio, with a focus on nervous system healing—not just coping or insight.

If you function well on the outside but feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected on the inside, this work is for you.

How My Work Helps

I work primarily with EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) because it helps the nervous system do what talk alone often can’t.

EMDR doesn’t require you to relive the past or explain everything perfectly. Instead, it helps your brain and body finish processing experiences that got stuck during times of overwhelm, threat, or chronic stress.

When those experiences are no longer running in the background, people often notice:

  • Less emotional reactivity and fewer “overblown” responses

  • A quieter nervous system and more capacity to stay present

  • Memories that feel distant rather than intrusive or charged

  • Relief from shame, self-blame, and harsh inner criticism

  • More choice in how they respond—rather than reacting on autopilot

EMDR works because it supports the brain’s natural ability to heal, without forcing insight, exposure, or catharsis.

The work is paced, collaborative, and guided by your system—not by pushing through or “digging up” the past.

My role is to help you stay grounded and supported while your nervous system learns that the present is safer than it once was.

This approach is especially effective for people whose trauma was relational, developmental, or cumulative—the kind that shaped patterns, not just memories.

Why Telehealth Works

Whatever you call it — virtual or online therapy, teletherapy, or telehealth — meeting over the internet from the comfort of your own space works.

Telehealth offers flexibility, increases access, and gives you complete privacy.

Research finds that therapeutic alliance — a key predictor of positive outcomes — is often equivalent between teletherapy and in-person treatment.

Multiple studies and reviews find that video-based telehealth can produce similar symptom improvement for depression, anxiety, PTSD, and related conditions as in-person therapy when the same therapeutic approaches are used.

Advantages of Telehealth Therapy

  • Sessions often fit better into work, caregiving, or school schedules and save on transportation, childcare, or parking costs

  • No travel time, commuting, parking, or waiting rooms — you can attend sessions from home, work, or other private spaces

  • Being in a familiar environment can help you feel calmer and more willing to open up.

  • You may feel less observed or self-conscious than in a waiting room or clinical space.

  • Telehealth makes it easier to keep appointments even during travel, minor illness, or life transitions, reducing missed sessions and fostering continuity.

  • Clients can choose therapists who specialize in their needs without being limited to local providers.
